Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation

System Used: Lyra-i™ & Venus-i™ Laser System combination

Applications: Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation treats fine wrinkles and sun-damaged skin. Patients with photo-damage and photo-aging often benefit from the procedure.

Specifically addresses: sun damage, wrinkles, photo-aging, lentigines and facial telangiectasia, vascular and pigment irregularities.

Descriptions: With this process solar lentigines and facial telangiectasia are treated individually with the Aura laser. The entire face is “painted” with the Aura. This is followed by a second pass with the Lyra laser, for facial toning and the treatment of fine wrinkles. The Lyra laser is FDA cleared for the treatment of wrinkles.

What to Expect:
(Immediately after Treatment) Solar lentigines may darken following treatment. After painting technique a slight erythema might be present.

Expected Final Outcome: With this procedure patients will typically benefit from 3-8 treatments. Clearing of sun damage such as lentigines will be evident after the first few treatments. Wrinkle improvement will be gradual over the first three months of treatment as new collagen forms, creating a smoother, younger looking skin.

Birthmarks

Application: Birthmark or Port Wine Stain From pale pink to dark red or purple in color

Description: A vascular birthmark (nevus) consisting of superficial and deep dilated capillaries in the skin which produce a reddish to purplish discoloration of the skin.

What to Expect: (Immediately after Treatment) Blanching/graying of the tissue immediately following laser application.

Expected Final Outcome: May not be fully resolved. Requires multiple treatments.

System Used: Aura-i™ Laser System (soon to come)

Broken Capillaries/Spider Veins/Dilated Veins on the Face

Application: Broken capillaries/spider veins/dilated veins on the face or legs or Telangiectasia

Description: Abnormally dilated blood vessels associated with a number of diseases. Could occur anywhere on the body.

What to Expect: (Immediately after Treatment) As the laser energy is applied, the vessel will disappear. Several seconds later it will be replaced with erythema (redness) which will fade within a few days (face) or weeks (legs)

Expected Final Outcome: Full resolution. May need several treatments to completely eliminate vessels.

System Used: Lyra-i ™ Laser System

Brown Flat Spots on Hands, Face or Body

Application: Brown flat spot or Lentigo/ pl. Lentigines

Description: Flat brown spot that appears because of the accumulation of lipofuscin (naturally occurring dark brown pigment soluble in fat) in the tissue unrelated to sun exposure, often malignant (cancerous).

What to Expect: (Immediately after Treatment) Full vaporization with light graying of tissue at treatment time. The area turns darker within a few hours and flakes off in about one week. If the pigment is diffuse or light brown, the end point is not as obvious, however, the lesion should turn darker and flake off as normal.

Expected Final Outcome: Full resolution. Dark brown lentigines may require two or more treatments.

System Used: Venus-i™ Laser System

Cherry Red Bump

Application: Cherry red bump or Cherry Angioma

Description: A benign skin growth that appears as a small, smooth, cherry red bump.

What to Expect: (Immediately after Treatment) The tissue will turn dark. Should dry up and fall off in a week or two depending on the size.

Expected Final Outcome: Full resolution after one treatment.

System Used: Aura-i™ Laser System (soon to come)

Concentrated Broken Capillaries/Rosy Cheeks – Rosacea

Application: Concentrated broken capillaries/rosy cheeks and nose or Rosacea and Matted Telangiectasia

Description: A disorder involving chronic inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, or eyelids; it may cause redness, vascularity (increased prominence of the blood vessels), swelling or hyperplasia (increase in size of the tissue), or skin eruptions similar to acne.

What to Expect: The area will blanch immediately following the laser application. Several seconds later it will be replaced with erythema which will fade within a few days.

Expected Final Outcome: Full resolution. Usually requires several treatments to completely eliminate all vessels.

System Used: Aura-i™ Laser System (soon to come)

Ingrown Hair, Shaving/Razor Bumps

Application: Shaving (razor) bumps/Pseudo-folliculitis

Description: Pseudo-folliculitis (razor bumps) is a common condition of a closely shaved area, which occurs in people with thick curly hair. The problem results when highly curly hairs grow back into the skin causing inflammation and a foreign body reaction. Over time, this can cause keloidal scarring which looks like hard bumps.

What to Expect: Perifollicular erythema (reddening around hair shaft) immediately following laser application. On occasion this reaction is absent or minimal.

Expected Final Outcome: Full resolution. Requires multiple (up to five) treatments with occasional maintenance treatments.

System Used: Lyra-i™ Laser System

Red and Blue Veins/Spider Veins on Legs

Application: Red and blue veins/spider veins on legs

Description: Veins that are distended, tortuous, twisted, bulging, “ropey” superficial veins of the leg that instead of conducting blood upward, back to the heart, conduct blood downward, in a reversed fashion, back to the foot.

What to Expect: Fine veins may blanch, larger veins are thicker and may blanch or turn grayish and flatten. You should not see a refill/rebound after the vessel is depressed. The onset of surrounding erythema (reddening) and edema occurs in a few minutes. Erythema can last a few days, some smaller superficial vessels could form a cat scratch scab over vein patch, and larger veins will take a few weeks to fade.

Expected Final Outcome: Usually takes one to three treatments. Vessels may take up to eight weeks to fade.

System Used: Lyra-i™ Laser System

Undesirable Body and Facial Hair

Application: Hair removal

Description: Undesirable hair anywhere on the body and face.

What to Expect: Perifollicular erythema (reddening around hair shaft) immediately following laser application. On occasion this reaction is absent or minimal.

Expected Final Outcome: Hair takes 1 – 2 weeks to fall out. Requires multiple treatments with occasional maintenance treatments.

System Used: Lyra-i™ Laser System

Deeper Lines and Wrinkles

Application: Invasive to minimally invasive skin resurfacing/wrinkle removal on hands/face and neck areas

Description: Visible creases in the skin associated with aging process.

What to Expect: Epidermis is partially to completely vaporized during the first pass. Several passes may be applied based on the desired result. Immediate persistent redness and swelling should be observed.

Expected Final Outcome: Severe redness for first week, subsiding gradually by week four. At that point, the epidermis has grown back although the healing process continues for another several months with visible improvement.
